A Seeker of Truth, Beauty, and Wonder – The Seekers Series – Part 5

Go to PART 1  |  PART 2  |  PART 3  |  PART 4  |  PART 5

Keep on seeking, don’t stop. Look for God, love, and light in all that you experience in life and through everything that you do. Be led by the eternal quest to seek the Kingdom of God here and now. A Kingdom not of this world but in this world through you and I.

There is so much more to your life than the car you drive, the house you live in, the clothes you wear… the food you eat. Those things are an expression of you, but they don’t define you. So stop, please, for the love of everything good, seeking value and meaning within them.

Instead, focus your efforts on seeking further into the divine purpose of yourself, which, as we said in part one, is full of movement, a never-ending (yet somehow not exhausting) pursuit.

Maybe you’ll have an awesome house, maybe you’ll drive a nice car, maybe people will know your name and applaud your efforts. Maybe they’ll sing your songs and read your words. Maybe you’ll wear nice clothes, go to award shows, maybe you’ll eat expensive meals and buy lots of gifts for friends, maybe your work will be artistic or academic… who knows what your days will hold? Maybe these things, some of them, or hardly any of them will happen. And that does not determine your value or success.

Be a seeker of truth, beauty, and wonder. Follow the rabbit hole and find God at the bottom… and another rabbit hole. With joy, discover more and more, which will lead to more questions and more discovery. “All these things” – the things that happen and are attached to you, will come and go and change. They’re not benchmarks of value, but flares of attention. They have important things to teach you, so seek the lessons out.

May you be a seeker of truth, beauty, and wonder. Which will lead to more questions and more discovery. Click to Tweet

You don’t have to peel yourself away from your dreams and desires to seek The Divine. You don’t need to go to seeker services or prayer meetings or flashy conferences with celebrity Christians or even Church, either.

Seek The Divine at the deepest level of yourself. Find him in the moments, in the mediocre, the glamorous, the hopeful, the gut-wrenching, the heartache, the beautiful, ugly, hard, joyful moments… look for him and keep on finding him… Then it won’t matter how much you have or not, you will find something that you can’t contain in a box, bank account, house or social media feed.

Francis of Assisi prayed this prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”

May you seek The Divine in all that is and may you find and keep on finding him. Again, and again.

And again.
