In the New Testament, signs seem to be a little more controversial. We’re told that signs and wonders will follow the righteous (Mark 16), but then we’re told that only evil and adulterous people seek signs (Matt 12). The writers of the New Testament urge us to test the signs; are they good or are they evil? And then Jesus performs “signs and wonders” and tells all those involved to keep it a secret.
It can be hard to know what to do with signs…
Quote that impacted us:
“Sacrifice’ usually leads to a well-hidden sense of entitlement and perpetuates the vicious cycle of merit, a mind-set that leads most of us to assume that we are more deserving than others because of what we have given or done. As the old saying goes, all expectations and self-sacrifice are just resentments waiting to happen.” – Richard Rohr, Immortal Diamond
