What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. Philippians 3:8 (NIV)

SACRIFICE

What’s important to you?

What do you spend your nights worrying or dreaming about?

What makes you angry, happy, or sad?

What constitutes a bad day? An open bottle of wine?

Who do you want to please?

Whose approval are you after?

Do you care when you’re misunderstood? And by whom?

Do you chase the thrill? Or crave silence?

Who would you give anything to work with?

What would you give everything to have?

How much do you promise?

What makes a gift sacrificial?

For the ancient Jews, the focus of sacrifice wasn’t so much what they lost in the act, but in what they gained. In Hebrew, the word for sacrifice means: to draw near. What you sacrifice for is what you draw near to yourself.

What you sacrifice for is what you draw near to yourself. Click to Tweet

Just make sure that at the end of the day you haven’t sacrificed the ones you were given to sacrifice for.
