Oh may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, my only Redeemer, my Protector-God. Ps 19:14 (TPT)
Pure and Pleasing – Part 7
Go to PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4 | PART 5 | PART 6
The Message Bible says, “These are the words in my mouth; these are what I chew on and pray. Accept them when I place them on the morning altar, O God, my Altar-Rock, God, Priest-of-My-Altar.”
What's the story you chew on?
When you look up into the heavens, what words fill your mouth?
When faced with darkness, what story do you tell?
When confronted by your own humanity, what ‘scripture’ (sacred truth) do you cling to?
I wonder what words fill God’s mouth when he looks at us?
We might not always be pure and pleasing and acceptable. But we can always be part of a pure and pleasing and acceptable story: redemption.
Nature and Scripture are intertwined in this story's testimony. There will always be a darkness so deep, where it seems no light can be found. But the grand mystery of grace is that light can burst forth in the midst of anything, we only need to look for it. Strike the match of love, flick the switch of hope, shine the torch of faith…
And if that's a little too corny (I felt it while I was writing), let me challenge you to see the potential for redemption whenever you see wickedness, mess and ruin. Whether it be in nature, in others or in yourself… there is always hope. That’s the very story the stars are trying to tell us…
Take some time to go back over any devotions you may have missed. Please email us at talktous@pktfuel.com with any thoughts and comments you may have, we would love to hear from you!
And maybe spend some time taking a fresh look at the world around you. How can you treat this earth that has been entrusted to us like it's on a redemptive journey? Does the story you hear about it change?
Now ask yourself the same about others…
And lastly, ask yourself the same about you.
Grace and peace friends,
Lizzy and Jesse.
