Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death… Ps 23:4 (NKJV)
Keep Going – Going Through Hell Series – Part 7
Go to PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4 | PART 5 | PART 6 | PART 7
When you’re going through hell, don’t stop. Keep going.
OR, just stop and have a reality check. Is it really hell? Or just a lonely night, a sore big toe, a problematic week. Do you need to adjust your perspective? Help someone else? Get your mind off what you don’t have and onto what you DO have?
OR, if you are indeed going through hell (and some of you are) do stop for a moment. Be still and know that the Infinite, Divine God is with you and that he is ultimate, transcendent presence. He is not afraid of THE dark; the darkness within or around you. He is quite at home with your brokenness. Can you see him baring his scars to your soul?
AND, embrace this moment. Lean into it. Wholeheartedly. Like you would a dear friend. For it is often our pains and heartaches that reveal our strengths and loves; that cultivate our joys and compassion; and helps us see others, everyone in fact, as people just trying to walk their own path through this crazy uncertain, unpredictable, horrible, beautiful life. As Ram Dass said, “We’re all just walking each other home.“
Let's walk with intention and love.
Suffering is the birthplace of wisdom. I would hazard a guess that the reason King Solomon strayed from the wisdom bestowed upon him is that he didn’t lean into his own suffering, or the suffering of others. He tried to cover it up, chase it away, and ignore it with women, money and power.
Don't make that same mistake.
So, weary warrior, get up. Open your eyes. See that you are not alone. And put one foot in front of the other until you have traversed this wild wilderness all the way through.
“The Lord is my Fierce Protector and my Pastor.
I always have more than enough.
He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love.
His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.
That’s where he restores and revives my life.
He opens before me pathways to God’s pleasure,
and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness
so that I can bring honor to his name.
Lord, even when your path takes me through
the valley of deepest darkness,
fear will never conquer me, for you already have!
You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way.
Your authority is my strength and my peace.
The comfort of your love takes away my fear.
I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.
You become my delicious feast
even when my enemies dare to fight.
You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit;
You give me all I can drink of you
until my heart overflows.
So why would I fear the future?
For I’m being pursued only by your
goodness and unfailing love.
Then afterwards— when my life is through,
I’ll return to your glorious presence
to be forever with you!”
Psalm 23, The Passion Translation.

Thank you for this series! It came at just the time I needed it.
In the midst of all the confusion, pain and tears, this series reminded me of the good that is forged out of it, the greater joy and wisdom, the deeper peace and intimacy with God. I may not have chosen to walk through the Valley, but I will keep going, knowing it is worth it in the end, knowing my Shepherd is with me till the end.
Love and blessings,
Yun
Hey Yun – thank you for sharing a little piece of your story and letting us know that what we do here is meaningful for you!
We will definitely be thinking of you and praying for you – and believing that smoother seas are ahead!
I’m sorry for the bad but grateful (and hopeful) that it will produce much good.
Much love and many blessings from us both.
Jesse and Lizzy
He is never failed me, He has been there through every trial and darkness. When going through those valleys at those times it is so hard to see and know his presence due to being consumed with fear and pain, but He has always – and will always – be there.
