And his name will be the hope of all the world. Matt 12:21 (NLT)

Go to PART 1

This world is darkened and saddened by the power and reach of sin. I know looking within myself, if left to my own devices, my life would probably reach depraved depths… my choices would look different taking me different paths. Even after being a Christian for 12 years, I surprise myself with the thoughts and attitudes that pop into my head. The key is to not let these thoughts take root in our hearts and minds. If they do, they germinate and grow. And what you sow is what you reap.

Bring those thoughts and ideas that pop into your head straight into the presence of Jesus, exposing them to the light. Start speaking His name over them as they try and wander through your mind… start thanking Jesus for all the good things He does and is. Those nasty little critters slink off pretty quickly when you invite His presence into your situation.

James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” – It starts with our drawing first. I imagine it like this: I'm standing at a train station platform at night. There's a Police Officer hanging around off to the side. Out of the shadows come some pretty shady characters… and they're coming for me. I'm tempted to give up in fear, but I move myself right into the company of the Police Officer. As I do, those ‘shady characters' back away knowing that their authority doesn't compare to that of the Officer’s.

Where I am positioned determines how I'm protected. When you're positioned in the presence of Jesus, you're protected by His authority. It's because of this authority that we have HOPE, our light on those darkened nights. His hope is our refuge.

And this hope is not exclusive, it’s for every human, everywhere. This verse is part of a prophecy about Jesus spoken by Isaiah – let it inspire you today.

Isaiah 42:2-4

“I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally, he will cause justice to be victorious. And his name will be the hope of all the world.”
