Finish strong daily devotional

There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears. Phil 1:6 (MSG)

One afternoon a few years ago (seriously…) my Youth group gathered at a local park for lunch after church. The Youth pastors from another church had joined us for the day to encourage us and build friendships between the 2 groups. We did an exercise around the picnic tables where one by one we said positive things over each other. When it got to my turn, everyone said lovely things (phew!). But one of the Youth Pastors from the other church gave me this scripture in Phil 1:6 saying she really believed it was a word from God for me. I was 15 at the time, I’d been through some challenges, and the scripture really spoke to me.

All these (few) years later, that verse means more to me now than ever. Through anonymous seasons, the dark times, the slow years of hard work and the painful years of unrealised dreams, this verse continually lights up my heart with hope. The long nights of crying babies and vomiting kids, the moments of correction and mistakes exposed, the beautiful days of sunshine and rest… through it all I know that God will never abandon me to nothingness. No matter what mistakes or hardships I face, there is always a tomorrow and the hope of a new day in the Kingdom of God. Purpose cannot be extinguished.

I used to struggle with disappointment and the misadventure life ‘seems’ to be. But I’ve come to understand that life is a journey, a divine dance with God, full of surprises, twists and turns, lessons and stories. When I start to see my life as a beautiful journey of faith, I realise that the adventure isn’t found in accumulating possessions and wealth and chasing fame. The sweetness of life is in growth and overcoming, seeing the beauty of God interwoven through it all.

What an adventure I have been on…

Paul encouraged the Philippians that no matter what happened to them and around them, he was sure that God would finish what He had started WITHIN them… and that they would flourish towards completion.

As will you…
Keep the faith and never give up. You are a masterpiece already but also in the making…

    1. Short answer is not yet. Long answer is that the cost to build it and its return means that its not viable. That being said we don’t want android users left outside in the cold (I am slightly biased since I’m an android user) so our goal is to build a version this year!
