For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Tim 1:7 (NLT)
If you've been following us on Pocket Fuel for long you'd know that I love this scripture and quote it often. God has not called you to a life of fear and all traces of it come straight from Satan. It, by it's very essence, is designed to keep you small and limited. To keep you “in your place”, it would say to you. BUT your place is seated in the heavenlies with the Most High.
You have to get really good at spotting fear, in your language and in your thought life and ultimately in your actions; and then setting yourself a mission to destroy it. One of the best ways to destroy it, and destroy it fast, is to do the exact opposite of what it's telling you to do. Is fear holding you back from asking that girl on a date? That kind of fear is for non-believers, whose hope is only dependant on their success in this world.
We have a higher hope and an eternal perspective through Jesus. So the girl says “no” and you feel the minor sting of rejection for a moment and know that you're one step closer to being with the one God intended you to be with. It's simple but takes discipline and practice. To push down the feeling and emotions that we're conditioned with from birth to resound too.
God has not given you that spirit. He wants you to live in the freedom of faith, stepping out in to the unknown knowing you'll be safe in Him. Resolve to practice a life a of fear-beating and oppose it every time it suggests you “sit down and shut up”. Trust Him today. Much love…
