But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” (Mark 5:36 NLT)
In this account in Mark, Jesus is called to come and heal Jairus’ sick daughter. She dies before he arrives and he gets to the scene and finds lots of weeping and wailing which quickly turns to laughing & ridicule. The onlookers and standers-by clearly didn’t know that they were in the presence of God. Their hearts were filled with doubt and fear and in their human understanding, it was all over. They missed it. God was right there!!! Romans 11 says in essence, that everything comes from and exists by Him. Wherever you are, whenever you are, God is present. Deuteronomy 31:6 says “do not be afraid…for I am with you” so when you’re facing a situation that seems impossible, remember whose presence is always with you. When the circumstance is insurmountable in the natural, you need the supernatural power of God to overcome it. When you realise that, thats when the fear starts to dissipate. It’s the revelation of His presence that dispels all fears. Knowing that He’s in control and can “work all things for good” (Rom 8:28) will set your heart at peace. Our challenge today is to recognise the presence of God so that when you face fear or anxiety for any reason, you can quickly redirect it to the “peace that surpasses all understanding.” Remember to be on the alert for fear, don’t just let it waltz in and take up residence! It’s not from God. We love you friends…praying you have a fear-conquering day!
