The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn… (Isa 61:1-2)

Notice there are a few “me's” in these two verses but every time it mentions a “me” it directly relates it to others. God anoints us NOT for our own glory or comfort BUT to proclaim good news to the poor. God sends us NOT to have a holiday or a little relax BUT to bind up and heal the broken hearted. Every gift of God on your life is supposed to be a blessing to other people but in a corporatised and capitalised society we read blessing as a job well done. “Here's your Christmas bonus John, excellent job this year”. God's anointing has nothing to do with your ability or success and everything to do with His gospel message going forth. Some of the most left-of-centre personalities are attracted to being missionaries and evangelists (no offence if you are one). Often, in our natural eyes, they don't make logical sense to fill such an important role BUT because these roles require a person absolutely committed to the Gospel, the good news that sets people free, the anointing of God saturates their lives and they succeed at bringing many to Christ, seeing people miraculously healed and multitudes set free. You are anointed to make a difference BUT the anointing will dry up if it isn't used…used for God's message to reach others. Take a moment to reflect on your own life and whether you engage the anointing of God to bring light into people's darkness and healing to broken hearts. Don't let it dry up but use it and more will flow! You will be a blessing today…
