John 8:34 says “anyone who sins is a slave to sin”. Romans 3:23 says “we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of god”. So we have all sinned we all know what its like to be a slave to sin. A slave to your past, to your circumstances, a slave to critical words, to abusive situations, to reputation, a slave to the position that all the actions and reactions of your life thus far has placed you. We are the sum of our nature, nurture and accumulative thoughts and actions. BUT – and this could possibly be the biggest ‘but' of all time – “If the Son (Jesus – the son of God) sets you free, you are truly free.” Maybe like me, some of you have tried different things to bring freedom to your heart… anything from moving towns, starting new jobs, gathering new friends and then onto things like leaving relationships, having many relationships, stealing, lying, cheating, substance abuse… these things only enslave you further.
The only way to ensure freedom from your sins, your past, words spoken over you, situations you've gotten yourself in, the things done to you, is for you to enter into a relationship with Christ. If the Son sets you free… If you accept Jesus into your heart and give Him free reign – then freedom will come. As grace enters in and swells within you the chains start to break off one and by one. From the inside out freedom comes, permeates, settles, takes up residence, seeps into your bones and out through your skin changing your life subtly but completely. When searching for freedom, look no further than Jesus Christ – Son of God – Freedom personified. Love you guys – have a brilliant day.
