For a child is born to us, a Son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isa 9:6 (NLT)
At first glance this title makes Jesus sound like someone we can talk to to get our troubles off our chest…and He can be – Ps 55:22 “cast your cares upon the Lord…” however that's not the Hebrew connotation of the meaning “Wonderful Counsellor”.
The Hebrew word is “Ya’ats” (Pronounced “Your-Ats”) meaning: to guide, advise, deliberate or resolve.
So often we go about our day, trying to resolve problems and make decisions without consulting the God above those problems. If He is above all things and through all things then certainly His Spirit can guide us through the problems we face right?
In 1996, a plane crashed into the Florida Everglades killing 110 passengers. Search and rescue teams spent 14 days searching through the swampy conditions for the planes black box recorder. Jet fuel and hydraulic fluid floated on the water forcing them to wear thick layers despite the intensely hot and humid conditions, making the search almost unbearable. A Policeman, who was part of the search crew, spent those 14 days praying for the victims and their families of the disaster. On the 15th day, while on a break, he realised that he'd neglected to pray that God would help them find the black box. Immediately, on resuming his search, he stuck his pole into the water and hit something hard and metallic. It was the black box! Praying and talking to God about it later, the Officer wondered why it took so long to find the box to which he felt the gentle response “Why did it take you so long to ask?”
Have you asked Him for direction through your problems lately?
Don't wait any longer…He wants to help!
Much love friends…
