It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. Eph 1:11 (MSG)
The NIV says, “In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will…”
I love the way The Message bible puts it… Whenever I read it, I hear Israel Houghton's song in my ears…
“Jesus at the centre of it all…”
We’ve all heard the 7 steps to freedom, all the laws of leadership; we get told how to dot our Christian i’s and cross our spiritual t’s… the levels, the programs, the events, the services, the choices, the ideals, the measures, the weighing… the highs and lows, the hopes and dreams, the being and doing in this crazy, loud, noisy, echoing, beautiful mess of a world…
But it all comes down to Jesus.
In this man, in the son of God, we can find out who we are and our reason for being.
The programs and services are great… Most of the steps and the laws work out OK, not sure about the levels and the measures… but when all is said and done, when it’s just you and the air you breath during the vulnerable moments of spiritual twilight where anything could happen, all those things fadeaway, all that matters is Jesus, and the only thing that changes anything is His love. A love tried and tested by death, proven by resurrection and triumph.
If you’re searching today, please… sit in peaceful silence. Still your heart and mind. Speak with Jesus. Look to Him FIRST! Nothing will ever take the place of knowing Jesus and understanding that He KNOWS you. He was there when you were created; He has a plan for you, and He’s cheering you on.
Seek Jesus, listen for His guidance, feel His heart for you. Live your life from a place of knowing Him rather than trying to attain His favour (FYI you already HAVE it…). He’s not out there – He is right here with you, all around you… waiting for you.
Jesus at the centre of it all.
