You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isa 26:3 (NLT)
Have you ever been enjoying a nice afternoon nap, maybe in a hammock in your yard or on a summer holiday, and someone comes along and gives you a start to wake you up? You go from this beautiful sense of peace to an adrenaline overload in a split second. It may seem like you were experiencing a “perfect peace” while you were resting, but the very reason it isn't actually perfect peace is that it CAN BE disturbed. Your focus shifts from the peace that you were experiencing to the distrupter of it. The very same happens in our daily experience. We'll be sailing along just fine and someone will cut us off in traffic, or we'll get an unforeseen bill in the mail. Perhaps the Doctor gives you a prognosis that's totally unexpected or a relationship breaks down suddenly. Instantly those things get the focus of your attention and thought life, and that's seemingly justified too! But if they have your focus then God doesn't and this scripture clearly indicates that perfect peace belongs to those who's thoughts are fixed on Him. Perfect peace is actually unwavering focus. When the distractions come to snap you out of perfect peace, keep your eyes and thoughts on Him! Isa 40:31 says “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” When you keep your focus fixed on God, and all He has available to you, then you'll rise above the storms and stay in “perfect peace”. Are you fixing your thoughts on Him today? Love you all heaps…have a brilliant day!
