“…let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” – Heb 12:1 (NLT)
Life is to be enjoyed not endured. God has created you on purpose for purpose and that purpose isn't for you to hate life, but actually live your life overcoming the obstacles and finding joy in every season. Physically speaking, it’s hard to run a race with endurance, and enjoy it, when you're unfit and weighed down with inappropriate clothing, footwear, etc… you wouldn't even attempt a great race if you didn't think you were fit enough for it and without the appropriate gear. Yet many of us live our lives like this spiritually. We don't attend to the fitness or health of our souls and spirits. And in doing so we can easily become weighed down in life in such a way that it affects our ability to live life the way we were designed to. The thing is, heaven is cheering us on – they can see our potential and they know that we have what it takes to shake off all that holds us back and work at our life ‘endurance' and start running our race with a sense of purpose and deep joy. Does it take discipline? Yes. Is it hard work? Yes. Does it hurt? At times. Just like getting physically fit does, getting our heart and spirit fit for life requires some dedication and attention – but it absolutely pays off. Don't allow the comfort of this moment to keep you from the coming moments of energy and purpose. Meaning – instead of enjoying the couch a little too much, choose to sow some effort to reap some endurance later. So today, even right now, choose to strip off the weight, the sin, the excuses, the apathy, the lack of confidence – the things that keep you standing still, and get moving. Sin may feel great for a moment, but its consequences become a weight that holds us back. So shake it off, say no to sin and yes to living life God’s way… your fitness will increase and you will start to be able to endure the harder times of life with a little more air in your lungs and a spring in your step. Hope that makes sense… love ya's…
