You give great victories to your king; you show unfailing love to your anointed, to David and all his descendants forever. Ps 18:50 (NLT)

Most people have a totally misconstrued view of God. They think He’s all about rules and regulations and making sure we jump through hoops to earn His love. In fact, because of their own experiences around love, most Christians fall into the same trap. The desire to keep defaulting back to ‘good behaviour equals God’s love' points to the limited nature stamped into us through the power of sin.

God’s love is actually unfailing…

And you and I are His anointed.

Anointing is an old Hebrew tradition whereby oil was poured over a person, in a spiritual ritual, to symbolise the power of God running over and through them. It was usually done during the induction of a King or Priest but sometimes also for healing.

Like the love of God, it’s tempting to think the power of God is far and distant, and only bestowed upon us on special occasions… especially when we’ve been good! Y’know? When you’ve done the right thing and deserve a little pixie dust from heaven!

News flash: When Jesus died on the cross, the temple veil was torn, therefore obliterating any kind of obstacle between us and God.

This means that His anointing is always available… always! It never dries up and is never not ready for you to access.

I often think of God’s power and love like the ocean. When you’re in it, you’re completely saturated by it; unable to remain dry and untouched by its reach. It’s our humanness that doesn’t comprehend its limitless ability to reach into our lives.

If God is all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal and the creator of all things, it’s pretty safe to say that a little humanness ain’t gonna stop Him from being close by, 24/7.

Col 1:16 (NIV) says, “For in him all things were created… all things have been created through him and for him.”

If He’s in everything, and He's all powerful and all loving, then there is no place to hide from His love and power.

Seems like He does show His unfailing love to His anointed.

Each one.
