Wherever there is freedom, first there must be truth. Truth is like an unlocking serum…whatever is bound is made free by it! It's a releaser. The funny thing about truth is it can take some adjusting to it. Imagine spending your whole life in solitary confinement, shut away from light… The moment you're exposed to it you can become overwhelmed and even desire to retreat back into the darkness. But as your eyes adjust to the light you become more used to it and desire to be in it. Like a prison door that has flown open so now, you are free, in Jesus, to walk around in the light. The enemy will attempt to lure you back into the cell, using temptations of your fleshly desires (sin), but he can't keep you there…ever. You have been “made free” from it's power to hold you down (as the NKJV version of this verse states) in the truth of Jesus! Rom 6:23 says ‘the wages of sin is death' but Jesus now holds the keys to death and the grave (Rev 1:18). If you find yourself in the cell again, it's the truth (Jesus has the keys and has already unlocked the door) that will set you free. Don't allow the enemy to lure you with his temptations and then condemn you for taking them. Jesus has set you free from that trap. I'm sure there are people reading this and struggling with their flesh today…and the voice of condemnation that comes with it! Rom 8:1 says ‘…there is no condemnation for those is Christ Jesus'. This simple truth will set you free. Choose to live in the truth and the freedom it brings…its a much more powerful way to live and sets you up to help others get free!
