TOMORROW
And in the morning, long before daylight, He got up and went out to a deserted place, and there He prayed. Mark 1:35 (AMP)
One ordinary Sabbath in Capernaum, Jesus went to the Synagogue and began to teach… the events that transpired after in the few short verses in Mark, are nothing short of amazing… a healing frenzy took place starting with a man who was possessed by demons… Jesus delivered him, and the crowd went crazy. The people were amazed and terrified, “who is this man who can command spirits and speak with wisdom and authority…”
He went on from there to Simon Peters home whose his mother-in-law was fighting sickness… Jesus healed her too…
Then the healing began to bubble out into the community. People flocked to Jesus, the whole town, and He prayed for them, healed them, spoke to them, looked into their eyes, spent time with them…
Imagine the joy, the tears of relief and hope, the laughter that erupts out of the mouth of the rescued…
It was an incredible day.
But that day ended, and the next day began.
He began that next day not by basking in the glory of the day before, but in solitude and prayer. We don’t know what kind of conversation He was having with God, but it’s an incredible picture of focus and regrouping – remembering who He was apart from the praise and sometimes torment of the crowds and His success.
What kind of day did you have yesterday? Is the sun setting on great success or failure? Or perhaps the mediocre and mundane?
You'll have days of great joy and deep heartache. Brilliant success and then torment… But through it all, your value stays steady and your purpose remains hope-filled. It’s an amazing thing to learn to live separate from your success and failures; to not let them define or control you, but to remain humble, true, and authentic.
Jesus took time to focus on who He was and who God had called Him to be, and from that place He was able to endure days of triumph and days of horror…
No matter what has happened today, the sun will close it out with darkness and the moon will pass over all that was and will deliver to you a brand new day filled with hope and possibilities…
Tomorrow.
