Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:2 (NLT)
Have you ever booked a holiday and used the date as a goal? You're working hard at school or work, and you just keep imagining that day when you can let go and relax. The first part of Colossians 3 is a great chapter. It encourages us to let go of this world and set our focus heavenward. Ecclesiastes says “I've set eternity in the heart of man…” so there's an obvious ‘pang' in each of us that knows our true destination… Our true home! The truth is this life is the holiday, a temporary visit, and the airline is brutal on the amount of luggage we can take home! If we spend our lifetime working on and for things that can't be taken with us, at the expense of our relationship with God, it all becomes vain. Mark 8:36 says “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul…” Working hard is a great and Godly thing to do but not to the detriment of your ultimate design. You're more than a physical being so don't get lulled into satisfying JUST your physical senses.
Eph 2:10 says “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Doing good often means at the expense of our own physical wealth, time, money, thoughts, and prayers, but it always adds value to our character, reputation, friendships, family life and the eternal luggage we can take with us! Today the challenge is to lift your eyes above just your earthly wellbeing and fix them on your home… heaven! It'll change the perspective of your problems and give you the opportunity to be a blessing to others. We love you guys and pray you have the best day!
