Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35 NLT)

This account takes place just a day or so after Jesus fed 5000 men with a few fish and a couple of loaves of bread. The people found him and started asking him questions. Jesus replied with “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs”. (John 6:26 NLT). He went onto say that we should not worry about food, temporal things pertaining to the vanity of life, but that we should spend our energy seeking the eternal. It's a great conversation that I encourage you to read… I don't really know what it is to be physically hungry… Some of you may… And millions around the world do. And we who have the means to, I encourage you to do what you can to help banish poverty from the earth. Compassion International and Hope Global are fantastic organisations who exist to do this and more. But there is also a spiritual and ‘heart' hunger that I believe human being lives with. A hunger for more, for purpose, meaning, to belong, significance, love, affection… We are hungry for things we can't even describe or put our finger on. And the truth is what we feed ourselves through our eyes, our ears and experiences often leaves us unsatisfied and even ‘heart' sick. Jesus is the bread of life. He is the only thing we can ‘eat' and be filled. We eat of him, not physically, but through his word, through prayer, through worship, through fellowship, through teaching, and then through helping others we eat of his ministry. If your heart is hungry, don't look to others or different experiences to fill you – make some time for prayer, for reading the word, for eating the bread of life. Love you guys…
