It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. Ps 18:32 (NKJV)

In the ‘NKJV', this Psalm is titled “God the Sovereign Saviour”. David sang this song after he was miraculously delivered once again from the hand of his enemies and from Kind Saul who was hell bent on killing him. David was getting a name for himself as a mighty warrior; a strong soldier undefeated in battle. I can imagine many looked up to and were inspired by him… maybe even hero worshipped him. Fathers told their sons great stories of the warrior David as the lines between dreams and reality thinned.

But as great as David’s name and stories of his exploits were becoming, and as much as young boys and girls relished hearing of his victories and triumphs… David was always very quick to acknowledge that his ‘victories’ or ‘deliverances’ were because God protected him first and foremost. He trusted God and obeyed Him… Followed Him. And God, countless times, led David out of harms way, OR into the way of mercy. It was God who gave David the strength to carry on; it was God who went before him in battle, and it was God who preserved him from an early death.

The same is true for us. No matter what you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone and in your own strength. God is fighting for us, ever leading us and guiding us… Strengthening our hearts and establishing our steps.

If your strength is fading today, look to Jesus who will fill in your weakness with His incorruptible strength. A strength permeated with peace and hope – not brute force. There’s a grace to the strength of God that will enable even the severely broken to rise up and into victory.

If you feel as though you are full of strength today – confident and upright, just remember that your strength and hope comes from Jesus, and praise and thank Him for it. He so generously and lavishly gives us more than we need.

Charles Spurgeon in his “Treasury of David” says, “Then let us ascribe all the glory to Him who girt us with his own inexhaustible strength, that we might be unconquered in battle and unwearied in pilgrimage.”

We are praying that over you today. Bless ya.
