I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done. Ps 118:17 (NLT)

Often, when we're going through hardship of any kind, the temptation is to get all dramatic and foretell and prophesy our death and destruction.

Prov 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. Notice it says “death” first. That's because it's our default setting. In many ways it's satisfying in the moment but it's actually incredibly harmful for our wellbeing. It sucks the life and hope out of us and directly opposes the thoughts and words God speaks over us.

The challenge in these moments, is to not allow what we see going on around us to prophesy our future. Next to that challenge is the one to not turn that prophesy into words that pass across our lips.

The challenge after that is to directly oppose what the circumstance is trying to dictate to us and that's exactly what this Psalm is saying and doing. When you find yourself in a downward spiral start speaking out the promise “I will live to tell what the Lord has done”.

When you verbalise and speak out words of faith you spark a fuel that will thrust you into overdrive. It will light up the vision God has placed within you and re-energise the purpose for your life. Today I challenge you to speak out loud God's promise “I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done”…c'mon do it…don't be shy or allow any form of insecurity lead you on the path to destruction. We love you guys incredibly!
