As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. Hosea 6:3 (NIV)
Have you ever been in a situation where a person treats you like you’re not there? It can be uncomfortable and degrading.
More often than not it’s out of the ‘ignorer’s’ insecurity that you are being ignored. They are so caught up with the ‘trouble’ of their own life that they either willingly or un-knowingly don’t include you. Their mental and emotional plate is full and so to add you would further perpetuate the insecurity (read: ‘fear’) going on in their life.
Now that we can see it in others, it’s time to introspectively look at our own lives. What fear and insecurity is causing you to avoid and reject others? What anxiety and lack of self-confidence is making you avoid God?
This passage in Hosea says “…let us press on to acknowledge Him… surely he will come to us like rain”. Regardless of your fears around facing God, He will always try to reveal Himself to you… and not in an inconspicuous manner but in a way that is as obvious as the soaking spring rains that drench every part of you when you’re caught in them.
The things you’re afraid of; your past, your failures and your hurts… God is not afraid of them. Acknowledge Him, come to Him, draw close and He is sure to make Himself as evident as a soaking rain. James 4:8 says “draw near to Him and He will draw near to you”. It's in His presence that all these fears melt away. His perfect love casts out all fear!
Bring yourself to Him today… fears and all! Praying for you guys…
