You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. Ps 92:4 (NLT)

This Psalm is a celebration of who God is and the great things He has done and will do for His people. A number of commentaries, including Charles Spurgeon’s “Treasury or David”, say that this Psalm was likely sung communally on the Sabbath – a song of rest and hope. It’s so good to have moments where you stop your normal routine and focus on the goodness of God. That's why Church, fellowship, gathering together, and community is so important. It provides us with a place and an opportunity to worship and celebrate Jesus. And to encourage others.

Countless times in my life, when I’ve been down and depressed, hearing my friends and family share about the faithfulness of God in their lives has inspired me, no matter what situation I’m in, to declare the goodness of God over my own life and situation. Sometimes it's in faith for the coming victory, sometimes in thanksgiving for the victory experience, but always declaring His goodness over my life by grace.

If you are feeling disheartened today I challenge you to sing. Lift your voice in hope. It's hard to stay depressed when you are singing a tune of joy. Turn your heart towards Jesus and recount all the great things He has done in your life. Know that He is not finished with you and will surely continue to pour out His goodness upon you in the days to come.

If your heart is full of hope, and your vision is clear, then lift up a song of praise, tell others your story and encourage them with it… Sing for joy because of what God has done for you.

A song carries a melody and musical notes, but it can also carry hope, love, joy and peace… Sing it out today. Praise God with your song, lift up your downcast heart with your song and bless someone else with your story and song of hope. It doesn’t matter if you can’t sing, sing anyway.
