Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Ps 23:4 (NKJV)

PSALM 23 – DAY 4

“Yea, though I walk through…”
Yes – you will go through good times, bad times, weird times, all sorts of times, but you will walk through every single season of your life. Not run in fear, not pass out overwhelmed by terror, not gripped by grief, not frozen with worry – but when led by God, you will walk calmly, at a steady pass through the valley and you will reach the other side in perfect timing.

“the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me…”
So many of us are afraid of the shadows – things that have no substance in reality, but have been planted negatively in our imaginations. I can’t tell you how many sleepless nights I have spent terrified of a shadow. And many of us live like that – controlled by fear and worry. But even death itself, although it is an event that we will all experience, is not final, but a passageway into eternity. We fear death believing that it is the end, when, in fact, it is just the beginning of eternity – a shadow we pass through. Isaiah 25:8 says “death is swallowed up in victory”. Wherever a shadow is, it is there because the light is shining. Instead of focusing on the shadows – the what if’s, the maybe’s, the doubts, the finality – focus on the light. In the light of Christ, you have nothing to fear… “perfect love expels all fear” (1 John 4:18).

“Your rod and your staff, they comfort me…”
God is both sovereign and gracious, ruler and comforter. And we need both in every season. The leading of God also heals, and God’s healing also leads… be comforted by the fact that He who leads you through this valley can also heal you through this valley.
Keep on walking, look to the light, be led and be healed… in Jesus name.
