To everything there is a season, a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecc 3:1 (KJV)
This passage reminds me of the Byrds song… “To everything… turn, turn, turn. There is a season… turn, turn, turn.”
Everything that happens, every season we live through, God can turn it all, every heartache and highlight, into an opportunity to grow and learn. No matter what the season, He can minister through it to bring grace and hope to our hearts and those around us.
In fact, God works with the seasons. There are the physical months of Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. Each season unveiling new colours and different temperatures; each one requiring different clothing, heating and cooling; each one is a stepping-stone in the growth of plant and animal life.
Every season matters and holds purpose.
It’s the same with our lives. There are seasons to live through. Not every moment will be sunny, but then not every moment will be dark. You can be sure of the turning of the seasons, and you can be sure that God can breathe hope and purpose into each one.
And God is within these seasons. His purpose and heart are pulsating through them, making time move along them. I don’t for a second believe that God plans people’s demise and misfortune in order to teach us lessons. Rather, He is always there, in the sun and the rain. No matter what life or the seasons bring upon us, it is CHRIST that moves us through, and He can bring about good in any and every season. He takes those seasons of ice and darkness, where nothing grows, and death prospers, and uses them to build strength into our hearts, showing us the different colours of our souls. Through the bright seasons that shine and bring warmth, He gives us rest and hope, understanding and joy.
Nothing is wasted. The seasons turn, life roles continually, and God is in the midst of it all bringing hope, life, peace, strength and joy. Don’t fight the season, move with it, eyes open and heart soft towards Christ. If you're in the middle of heartache, don't give up! The warmth of hope will rise upon your heart once more. And if you're in a season of joy, relish it, embrace it, drink it in. For the seasons will move on, but God remains strong and full of hope through them all.
