Rest and Pray – Digital Sabbath Series
**WE INTERRUPT THE WONDER AND GRACE SERIES FOR A DIGITAL SABBATH**
In our house this year, we’ve been working hard to put in place a weekly Sabbath (yep, it is hard work). A day of rest, work stoppage and refreshment. Time set aside to reconnect with our loved ones and create beautiful memories. Time to think and pray and pay attention to the condition of our hearts. Will you join us?
Perhaps you’ll choose to put your phone away for the day, or not check your emails, or keep the TV off, or take a road trip, sleep in, order take-out – whatever it is, take some time to renew. You and everyone around you will benefit from it.
Last week, in the Roads and Gates Series, we chatted about a verse in Matthew 7: “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (V13-14) I hope it challenged you as it did me. Ha!! I feel compelled more than ever to do the work of living well, to surrender and let go of my ego and pride, and seek God through both the wonder and the pain along the way.
Today, take the time to read over any devotions you may have missed, and lean into the challenges and questions they've raised in your heart. Pray. Ask. Seek. Knock.
And what if the “narrow gate and hard road” looks tight, and feels uncomfortable, and you’re not sure you can walk it? As Mary Anne Radmacher says:
“At first glance, it may appear too hard. Look again. Always look again.”
