Resistance and Rest – Digital Sabbath Series – Part 5 - Pocket Fuel on Psalm 127:2

It really is senseless to work so hard from early morning till late at night, toiling to make a living for fear of not having enough. God can provide for his lovers, even while they sleep! Psalm 127:2 (TPT)

**WE INTERRUPT THE TEACH US HOW TO PRAY SERIES FOR A DIGITAL SABBATH**

FRIENDS!

Happy weekend, guys!

As you may have read in the weeks prior, Jesse and I have been practicing a “Digital Sabbath” on the weekends. We want to be more present in the moment, rather than captivated by our phones.

People have practiced Sabbath-keeping for thousands of years as a reminder that subduing the earth is not what it's all about.

In his book, “Sabbath as Resistance,” Walter Brueggemann said:

“In our own contemporary context of the rat race of anxiety, the celebration of Sabbath is an act of both resistance and alternative. It is resistance because it is a visible insistence that our lives are not defined by the production and consumption of commodity goods.”

And that's what we’re doing, an “act of resistance and alternative.”

In truth, I've been pretty sick this week… argh! I've had many “forced” moments of rest. And that's OK!

I struggle with rest. I want it. So much.
But I have so much to do. So much I WANT to achieve. I want more out of life. And these feelings drive me to do more. To deny my body rest, and push until the work is done.

Which is how I got this sick in the first place.

Sabbath, people. Sabbath.

Please work hard. Please put your whole heart into this one life that you have. Have a go, take a risk, follow your heart, trust your gut… Get good and messy and even a little busy.

BUT! But!
Dear friend, if you get tired, if you get sick, if feel like your head might explode all over the place without warning…

REST!
Rest!
rest.

We need to reclaim rest and silence and space and time. Working hard can only be sustained by resting well.

So! Permission granted (not that you need it.)
Rest well.

Lizzy (and Jesse).
