Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Rom 12:2 (NLT)

If you're a Pastor, a Minister or clergy of any kind, you'll know one of the questions we get asked most is “how do I find out God's purpose for my life?”. The yearning is written deep within a person to discover what the heck they are on this planet for. The key can be found in this verse. In fact it's a pretty obvious clue. It's allowing God to transform your thinking. “But I have allowed God to transform my thinking and I still don't know what my purpose is!” I hear you shouting back at me.

Well ask yourself these questions: Do I know that God is always with me and won't forsake me? Do I believe that there is a future and hope for me? Do I believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me? Do I believe that I am more than a conqueror through Him? Do I believe that He can do exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think? Do I believe that I am free from the guilt and shame of my past?

Notice that these kind of questions are all directly linked to scripture which tells us exactly how God thinks. We have to transform our thinking, meaning we capture it and make it obedient to His word. It's when we get our thinking in line with His, that we start to see which way He's directing us. Too often people want to know His will for them WITHOUT moving in the same direction. It's like swimming against the current and complaining about not getting anywhere.

Ever heard this scripture? “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of you heart!” (Ps 37:4). If you want to know God's will for your life, start thinking like He does. You'll get into step with Him and walk right into His will for you, which is good, pleasing and perfect. Bless ya!
