This is a simple but profound proverb. When you look into a reflective surface like water or a mirror, your reflection stares back at you a 100% replica of you looking into it. It’s the same with our heart and lives. The reflection of our heart is seen in our lives as an exact replica. Our lives testify to what is in our heart. There's a couple of ways we can look at this… the first way, I can hear my mums voice in my ear talking to me about boys and not to date anyone I haven't known too long – “How can you know what sort of person they are if you haven't seen them live?”. How someone lives reveals to you the things they hold dear in their heart.
Another way you can look at this verse is along side Proverbs 4:23 “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Keep watch over your heart, guard what goes in and fills it, grabs hold of it… Because what takes hold in your heart will have a direct impact on your life. It’s simple, it’s obvious, but it’s also a powerful thing to realise and understand in our everyday living. Our life is a direct reflection of what is in our heart – what we fill it with. So if you are unsettled about you life, be encouraged today to first look at your heart and what direction it is taking your life in. Be blessed guys.
