They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago. They will revive them, though they have been deserted for many generations. (Isaiah 61:4)
Isaiah 61 is a prophecy given by Isaiah to the people of Israel. To get the most out of todays word, give the whole chapter a read. The ‘They' in the scripture is actually those who Isaiah says in Verse 3, “who mourn”. God will cause them to rise up and be like “great oaks (He) has planted for His own glory”. It is ‘they' who “will rebuild the ancient ruins” and “revive (those who) have been deserted”. What an amazing picture. Those of us who have been in mourning, struggling, down and out… God can and still will enable us to be ‘rebuilders' and ‘revivers' of others. I love that in God's grand plan of ‘reviving' the world, He gets us in on the action as agents of His love and grace. Through Jesus, even the most abandoned and deserted of hearts can be refreshed and renewed. No one and nothing is too far gone or too out of reach of the advances of Hope. So I encourage you to rise up like Isaiah 60:1 says, the Lord has anointed you, chosen you, to speak His words, be His love, shine His light… and it doesn't matter how dark your life is or has been, He can cause you to rise up out of anything, and then live with purpose. Be a reviver and a rebuilder… someone who brings life, refreshes others… someone who sees beyond the bankruptcy of ones life and helps lift them up and into the life they were created and designed for. We were not just called and created to be blessed, but to be blessed and in turn, be a blessing. Our world, our neighbours, our families and friends need revivers and rebuilders… And through Jesus, you can bring hope to others. Rebuild and revive.
