“…I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you…” 2 Kings 20:5 (NKJV)

A great friend of mine is a health practitioner and she once told me of an elderly lady who’d come to see her. Her husband had recently passed and she said he was quite healthy, walking and jogging 2-3 miles every day at the age of 80, not long before he died. He went to the doctor for a check up and the doc said “you shouldn’t be running that much at your age!”. So he gave up. Within a 3 month space his health deteriorated rapidly and he passed away. It was a shock to the family as he seemed so fit up to that point. Sometimes we hear the counsel of an expert, someone who should know, and then we respond accordingly. But have we taken our circumstance to the ultimate authority? In the first verse of this chapter the Prophet Isaiah basically says to Hezekiah “you’re on death’s door, get your affairs in order.” Pretty intimidating words to come from a Prophet!!! He’s a man of God… you’d think one of His favourites and expect he’d have the inside scoop on Hezekiah’s destiny. Even in Isaiah’s wisdom and favour before God, he didn’t get this one right. And even in the face of terminal news, Hezekiah didn’t give up on turning to God.

Whatever ‘news’ you’ve been given today, go get a second opinion from the Creator. Ultimately He knows your beginning from end and He’s also been known to heal many a person. Don’t stop getting wise counsel, the Bible teaches us to do this, but don’t allow the God-answer to be over-written by that of man. Ultimately we all die at which point, if we’ve accepted Jesus, we get to experience eternal healing, which is what salvation encompasses but don’t ever give up on healing in this lifetime. 1 Peter 2:24 says “By His wounds you have been healed”… claim it and stand on it today! Don’t give up.. much love.
