Jesus is trying to prepare His disciples for a change: life without Him in the flesh – with Him every day… talking, eating, sleeping. A concept that they may not have readily understood or accepted. And although Jesus would leave their presence in His current form, He in no way intended to leave them empty handed or hearted. In fact, the journey ahead of Him made a way for Him to leave his friends and followers more full of presence and the essence of Himself than His physical presence ever did.
Through the power of the cross, Jesus dwells within our hearts. He's no longer confined to the human body and all its limitations of connection. He lives within us, entwined into our being. And it's His presence in our lives that brings peace of mind and heart. Not a peace that the world can bring or even offer. But it's a peace so deep beyond the realms of mankind and its rationale… a peace that is of a spiritual nature, held in the balance by the Author of Life, and administered directly into our hearts and minds.
When faced with challenges, thoughts and decisions, lean on THIS peace. Not peace of the world that comes with our human limitations and frailties attached to it – bank accounts, reputation, manipulation, success. It's a peace born of pure love, sacrifice and utter devotion. And since the world cannot give us this peace, it cannot take it away. So don't worry, don't be fearful. TRUST IN GOD. Lean into His peace. It's for your heart – your emotions, feelings… AND your head – your decisions, your logic.
