Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Ps 51:10 (NIV)

God is always creating. His ‘creating streak' didn’t last for 6 days and then vanished – He still has that creative power burning within Him and manifesting all around Him. When life leaves our heart in tatters, ruined, and empty, only God has the power to come and create in us a brand new heart – not renewing the old heart, but starting again – brand new. The power of Christ’s sacrifice, death and resurrection makes this transaction of God creating anew in our lives an everyday and always occurring experience. I’m reminded of Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” God has not finished creating.

And with this new heart, He renews our strength and resolve. I love the word ‘steadfast’. It means to be “Fixed or unchanging; steady; firmly loyal or constant; unswerving.” God creates in us a new heart. He takes our heart, made hard and cold by the changing tides of life, and puts in its place a warm, responsive heart, able to move and function in the way it was created. And then, to assist this heart beating life into our spiritual veins, He renews our spirits – causes us to be strong, unswerving from His love, loyal to His purpose, fixed in His grace. Steadfast is not being rigid or cold, but rather about living on purpose for the purpose we were created for.

No matter what you feel the condition of your heart and spirit is today, God has not finished with you, He will never cast you aside… He can create anew any broken heart and renew every hopeless spirit. His love for you is steadfast, loyal and true.

Bless ya…
