Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. – Heb 12:1 (NLT)
Go to PART 1 >> “Strip off every weight”
Life is for living… exploring, adventuring, discovering, laughing, loving, hoping, weeping, running… you get the picture… Sometimes just sitting on the couch for a lifetime (metaphorically and physically speaking) can seem restful and enjoyable. But on the couch you miss out on the grand views from mountain tops and the bittersweetness of valleys, the raging oceans and the drifting country fields…
God’s desire for you is that you run in life and live it to its fullest. So, as we head into this new season ‘GET UP – RUN – GO FOR IT’. Get out of your comfort zone, try new things, go on adventures, take some risks, have faith, dare to be bold, believe, open your eyes… run. RUN.
Feel the oxygen expand your lungs and the breeze rush past your face, the sun warming your back and the grass massaging your feet. Don't spend life staying still, hardly moving… you'll just get stagnant and smelly… Get up and run. Start to build some endurance into your heart and spirit.
Isaiah 60:1 says it beautifully: “Arise from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life! Shine and be radiant with the glory of the Lord, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!”
Those who have gone before us have paved the way… They champion us with their legacy, they collectively surround us and cheer us on. You are not alone. You have hope. You have purpose.
Leave 2014 in 2014. Whether it was a great year and your heart is full and ready, or a horrific year… one that your heart is still shattered through… God is with you and for you, and will build this year on the tried and true foundation of His love.
Shake off all that holds you back, and in the shaking, get up and run. You might need to start with walking, and then a slight jog… But if you keep on working at it, soon you'll run with confidence. There's no better time to start than now.
