For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2 (NIV).

Paul, what an amazing example he is for us to follow. He is speaking here of the importance of finding yourself in Christ and in Him alone. 1 Cor 2:1 – 5 “…When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”

In our own humanity, we are so very limited. Fear, worry, anger, sin, hatred, heartache, brokenness… any time we trust in or lean on ourselves, we are also leaning on and trusting in all the things that make us up. But Christ crucified is a whole other story – victorious, gracious, compassionate, spotless, matchless, full of hope, powerful and mighty, conquering and overcoming… these are things that make up Christ, so when we choose to put ourselves and what we can do in our own strength aside and trust in Him, these are the things that make ‘Him' up. This is why Paul resolved – I love that, he was determined and focused against all kinds of odds and distractions to know nothing at all except through the crucified and risen Christ.

With whatever you face today, good or bad, resolve to only face it through the strength, power, grace and purpose of Jesus Christ. That is where real wisdom and strength comes alive and active.
