No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day. Luke 9:62 (MSG)

Moments of Vulnerability: An Observation.

The other day, I was working from home, late on deadline (as per usual), while my daughter was watching a movie in the other room. (Yep, I’m a model parent *wink*). Suddenly, above the sound of my typing and stress, I heard her singing. I had a choice to make:
Keep my headphones in?
Or revel in the moment with my daughter?

To be honest, I thought about it for a moment. I weighed it up. I’ve worked from home since Bree was born four years ago, and while it's been an incredible blessing, it’s had its challenges and guilt trips too. I needed to submit my work, but I also needed to be “in the moment” with my daughter.

I got up from my chair, walked to the lounge room archway, and peered around the corner. Bree was singing “Let It Go…” at the top of her lungs, crazy dancing like she was Elsa caught up in a magical ice storm, furious and free all at the same time.

My daughter's moments of vulnerability are the most beautiful things I have encountered (and that of my son's). She wasn’t aware of my watchful eyes, and as I continued to gaze upon her, hope and gratitude and love and joy and peace bloomed to life within me. I'm so glad I defied the clock, even if just for a minute, to be wrapped up by that moment.

There are always deadlines. There are always things to do. There is always something to clean, a call to make, a job to complete. And yep, we need to be diligent and responsible. But hidden beneath and within the busyness of life, are moments of divine joy and miraculous bliss. Moments of heaven on earth, love in action, that take your breath away and reveal the love of God in new and beautiful ways. Always, always, always have your spirit looking, listening, and waiting for these moments of beauty; moments of divine joy. And when you find one, give yourself to it.
