I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalms 139:14 (NKJV)
Your soul is the decision making centre of your being. It is either ministered to by your body (the 5 senses) or the Spirit. It then makes decisions to direct your body (thinking, feelings and actions) based off the information it receives.
That's why 2 Cor 5:7 teaches us we must ‘walk by faith… and not sight…' letting our lives be directed by what God reveals to us through His Spirit.
Often we allow our soul to receive information from what we see in magazines, TV, movies, and advertising. Or perhaps it's the words and opinions others have spoken over us. In these cases, our soul is starved of the true knowledge that we are marvelous creations. We look in the mirror and instead of saying “God did an awesome job” we say “I'm ugly” or “I'm useless”.
The frame of reference for that thinking (and ultimately language) comes from what you've seen and heard instead of allowing the Spirit to minister truth to you. The truth is, most things and mediums of this world are controlled by a spirit not-of-God (we don't wrestle against flesh and blood but spirits and principalities – Eph 6:12) therefore when we allow them to minister to us, to control our actions and thinking, we don't end up thinking God thoughts about ourselves or others.
Today, determine to turn down the voices of this world and turn up the voice of His Spirit. It will change the way you look at and treat yourself and other people.
Challenge: What's one thought you've had today that you can change to a God-thought?
Have the best day…
