I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isa 43:19 (NLT)
PART TWO
Go to Part 1 >>
It’s just like God to do things in such a way that no one expects… like making a smooth pathway through a wild and untamed wilderness, and creating bubbling, rushing rivers in dry wasteland.
Just as God, through Moses, caused the Red Sea to part, creating a DRY pathway through to the other side, God can do something new, something crazy, something totally unexpected wherever you’re at in life and no matter how impossible it seems.
Sometimes all we want is for God to literally pick us up out of this season and into something different. Better, easier. I’ve been through seasons and circumstances that while in it I’ve thought “I don’t know if I can make it through this one”. I’ve cringed, it’s been awkward, painful and awful. But then I’ve experienced the wonder of God creating a cool, refreshing peace in the middle of extreme dryness and exhaustion. Something that wasn’t there before, but by His grace, flowed in. I’ve wandered around in the wilderness, metaphorically speaking, getting tangled in vines and tripping over rocks when out of nowhere a clear path appears. Something new in the middle of my old mess. It’s a mysteriously beautifull experience.
Through the seasons of life, we learn not to wish away the moments good or bad, but to look for God in each of them. Look for the path in the crazy wilderness, expect rivers to flow in seasons of dryness and places of exhaustion. Because God is there and He is able.
If we keep looking for the wilderness and the wasteland, that’s what we’ll see. But if we lift our heads, open our eyes and believe that God will lead us on and through, we will start to see His promises, His presence and His grace no matter where we are.
And that's beautiful – a care and trouble free life is shallow, but a life that has experienced the highs and lows, fallen and rescued, hopeful, with a learned and experienced confidence displays the beauty of the journey of life. Don’t run from it, embrace this moment and see God in it.
He is with you.
