Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Prov 31:11-12 (NIV)

LOVE SERIES – PART 5

Trust is the foundation stone of every relationship and so when you engage in commitment to another person, full trust has to be given and received.

Often we expect someone to be trustworthy first but this verse, in Proverbs 31, says that “her husband has full confidence in her.” He is actually trusting her fully based off his commitment to her. His reward; never lacking anything of value!

Husbands; when you give your wife confidence, your married life is going to soar. Women thrive in the emotional security that a man can provide for them when he uplifts her and constantly pours his confidence into her.

The next verse addresses the wife and says that she only brings him good all the days of her life. In return a woman also provides for her husband, avoiding anything that would detract from or harm him. Her intent and goal is to always bring him the best she can, at any given moment.

Note that both these approaches really speak of giving everything for the other person. Marriage is a commitment to give yourself 100% to the other person and in doing so you receive 100%.

You lack nothing and receive good for your whole lives.

Now this is the ideal picture of a lifelong union but we are all affected by sin and it’s selfish nature. At some point we are bound to fail to live up to this intent. The key is to get back on the horse and keep giving it your all. It’s the only way you will inspire the other person to genuinely return it!

Jesus says “whoever keeps their life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.”

When Jesus is at the centre of your relationship, He inspires you to give everything you’ve got into it… and it’s in the everything you give that you’ll find the everything you need!

Make your relationships awesome today… and everyday!
