Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. 1 Corinthians 13:7 (TPT)

“Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.”
THOUGHTS:
This could perhaps be the most challenging verse in all the scriptures. I’m not sure if there are any words I could use to express adequately what this scripture does in my heart, right now, at this moment in history, at this point in time.
Love is safe.
Love is a safe place.
Love is a safe place of shelter.
Does the love we declare and express – not just with our words, but with our lives – foster a safe place of shelter? And not just for those that we like or deem as acceptable, but for everyone?
Love never stops.
Love never stops believing.
Love never stops believing the best.
Love never stops believing the best for others.
What do you believe about others? Minority groups? Political parties? Other religions? Those who look and sound and are different than you? I think the world could do with a massive injection of “I believe the best about you!”
Love never takes failure as defeat.
Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.
Ever.
Love is not confined to a soft breeze on a summer's afternoon, or the light catching in your beloved’s hair, or the sound of your children breathing, or a night of endless joyful dancing…
Love is gritty. It gets dirty. It sits in the mud. It sees more in our ‘enemies’ than what the media says there is. But that's when it actually sees an enemy, because if the battle is not against flesh and blood then who really is our enemy? Love listens and sees and hopes and believes. As Bob Goff says, “love does.”
It does the hard work as well as the good work.
Perhaps a more challenging question to be asking ourselves, our communities and our governments, would be: What would love do?
It comes down to this: do we really believe that love can change the world for the better? Not just your world, or my world, but THE world?
I believe that the kind of love this scripture talks about, can. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has and ever will.
(And now, I am totally undone. ha!).
