Open your hearts, love is on the way! Jude 1:1-2 (The Message)
What expectation, what hope, what elation accompanies that promise! It takes me back to John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish.”
Fairytales, novels, movies, TV Shows and the like have ever revolved around the theme of pure love – love that rescues and saves, that values and dignifies, that hopes and reigns. The idea of that kind of love fills our songs and dreams…
Unfortunately, not many recognise true love when staring it in the face… Many didn’t in Jesus day. They thought the Messiah prophesied, would come waving a sword and shouting “freedom!” Instead, Jesus came on the wings of grace and whispered hope and compassion into every highway and byway, every dark and hidden place, into every rejected and scared soul.
Love is on the way – yet love is here. Jesus loves you today. And you know it to be true, I hope. But the things you go through tomorrow and the coming days and months will reveal His love to you more and more, on varying levels and in different tones. So, in fact, love is here, but further understanding and, therefore, experience of His love is also coming.
Keep your heart open no matter what happens. The love of Jesus that you know today will only grow tomorrow. No tragedy or heartache can dull it; no devil or dark power can stop it, no depression or sickness can silence it. Romans 8:38-39 says “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” So keep your heart open… As love is with you now, it is also surely on its way.
