Isaiah 42:6 “I am God. I have called you to live right and well. I have taken responsibility for you, kept you safe. I have set you among my people to bind them to me, and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations”
This is a pic of a lighthouse near where we live. We walk by it often and at night can see its light in the distance. God is God… It's a good thing to remember… He has taken responsibility for us – for our eternal destiny and current purpose – He has kept us safe: kept our heart from the condemnation and spoil of sin. Now that we are in a state of spiritual safety, He has called us to live right and well, and guide others home. A lighthouse is beautiful to look at during the day… Always a striking figure upon the cliff top, but by night, it has responsibility, it has purpose. It's the same with us. We are designed with great purpose and in Christ we have a responsibility to shine the light of His love and grace, a beacon of safety and truth, into the darkness that consumes those around us. It's not a light of judgement, it's purpose isn't to expose people, but rather to light up the path home. The light from a light house doesn't say to a ship “look at all your damage, how foolish you are to come so close to those rocks which will surely kill you”… Its message and ours is “it's OK, there is HOPE, here is the way, through Jesus, the truth and the life your souls crave.” Jesus is the way friends, if you are stumbling in darkness, go to His word, it is the light to your path, and will keep you from shipwreck. And know this – you are set as light to those around you, to bind them to Jesus… Give them hope, not judgement, show them the way home. Much love friends. xo
