For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6)
Life and Peace – The two attributes, prizes, state of living that have been chased around the world and back. People go to many lengths to get that rush of life through their veins and that calming, prevailing peace in their hearts. Life and peace cannot be bought with great experiences, grand living, full bank accounts… You won't find the rush of life to be sustaining in adventure or career climbing. You won't find peace in control or money. These two only become yours when your heart and mind respond to the Holy Spirit in obedience. When you yield to the call of God on your life and take those steps He's asking you to take, the abundant life talked about in John 10:10, and the unexplainable peace in Phil 4:7, will start to form in your life. As you continue on the journey, they grow and become firmly established.
There's always going to be things we want to do, responses that we will have to different situations, things we feel we want to be involved in that are carnal – they only feed our selfish desires. I'm not talking about that big piece of chocolate cake in the fridge, or that trip you want to take… God wants you to have fun, enjoy life and be totally blessed. But it comes down to obedience… Will you obey the voice of God? Or go your own way? Its that battle that goes on in all our lives… obedience or self. When we obey God, life and peace are found. When we go our own way, we stay hungry and unsatisfied. Be spiritually minded and stay open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Obedience might seem lame and childish, but tell that to Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Ruth, David, Habbakuk, Peter, John the Baptist, Mary AND JESUS. Obedience to Father God actually leads you down the greatest adventure and brings you sustaining peace. Some of you need to make decisions today… Make the ones that lead to life and peace. Love ya's!
