“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Gal 2:20 (NLT)
Our earthly bodies are doomed to decay and destruction…ultimately death. Thank Adam and Eve for that! More seriously though, we are designed for eternity but sin infiltrates our earthly experience and dramatically reduces our life expectancy. Paul says “So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God…” – We find life in our mortal coil – our shell doomed for destruction – by trusting in Jesus. Proverbs 3:5 in the Amplified version says “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart…” These adjectives paint a picture of us being “all-in” with our consummation of God and His ways. Why? Because when we do we overcome the destructive force of sin and death and we find life and life more abundantly! (John 10:10) God-economics is giving something away without expectation of a return gift. In this, the Bible says it is more “blessed” to give than to receive so when we give our trust away to God, although we don't expect anything in return we will get blessing from God. Like we always say, Kingdom economics is backward. The first shall be last. Serving not being served. Humility over pride. Lose your life to find it. It's in this backward mentality that we get all that we're deeply searching for in this life. We actually find life in the hopeless decay of sin and life reinvigorates us. To me, as an unbeliever, 12 years ago, Jesus seemed like a backward notion, but now as I've experienced a rich and full life in Him, I realise He's the only way to live! Let life come to your earthly body. Trust Him with your life and you'll receive a much greater portion than you ever expected! God bless.
