>Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
What a powerful verse this is. I see it in many places… People wear this verse like a badge. Most take it in the context of saying to unbelievers “I'm not ashamed to be a Christian”, which is great – but this verse goes so much deeper than that. It's intent is not this indignant “I'm not ashamed” stand against those who don't know Christ… Paul wrote this verse to Christians, he said it with humility not stubborn pride, and he was explaining something revolutionary and all inclusive. Don't be ashamed of your need of Christ and the work He is dong in your heart. Don't be ashamed that in your weakness He is strong. Dont be ashamed that you fall short of the Glory of God and you need a Saviour… The power of the Gopel is that we are sinners not deserving of Grace, yet because of Christs great love for us and His mighty work on the cross and in the grave, we can be saved… Anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be forgiven and redeemed. It's for all people, every nation, every culture – no matter what you've been involved in, what's been done to you… EVERYONE can find their home in the heart of God. Don't let pride build walls between you and Jesus, and you and unbelievers, causing you to hide the truth of where you are at… ‘But by the Grace of God' is my mantra – I'm not ashamed that on my own I'm a nutcase, but with Jesus I have all of eternity – way above and beyond more than enough. Tear down the walls of pride today and allow people to see the work of salvation in you… Don't be ashamed of the display of His mighty power. Peace… xo
