Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory. Colossians 1:27 (TPT)
Humility to Transform – The New Thing Series – Part 6

“He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners… to provide for those who mourn in Zion; to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, festive oil instead of mourning, and splendid clothes instead of despair…” Isa 61:1-3 (HCSB).
If you read Isaiah correctly, the writer is not saying that God will give us a crown of beauty instead of ashes… no. He’s saying that God had anointed HIM to do that.
It’s something we do for each other.
Something along the lines of:
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal 6:2).
When we read Isaiah, we tend to forget that it isn’t a nice, comforting story. Instead, it's prophetic poetry, truth spoken to power to shake people awake.
So often we’re looking for God to do something miraculous and new and transformative, and all the while he’s trying to wake us up to the fact that he has given us the grace to do just that. God is at work IN you. The change you seek? The newness you desire? In your life and in our world? (oh, how our world craves to be made new!) It’s already begun in you.
Something along the lines of:
“Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it!” (Col 1:27 TPT).
We really are the change we wish to see in the world. Sometimes the greatest way to see change happen, and bring about new things in our lives and the world around us, is to pick up someone else's trouble and carry it with them until it can be offloaded.
Joseph Campbell said:
“When we quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we undergo a truly heroic transformation of consciousness.“
It takes a lot of courage, faith, and trust to change. It takes a lot of humility to transform and to do transformative work. You won’t always find it in the powerful and glamorous places that have the attention of cameras and phones and journalists. Rather, you’ll find new things springing up in the oddest, most unlikely places.
Places you never thought possible.
Even in the middle of your own pain
Even while carrying the pain of others.
And if you open your eyes wide enough and listen really hard, you’ll see and hear Spirit whispering:
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not see it.” (Isa 43:19)
Can you see it?
