“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.” Rom 8:15-16
In church this weekend, we had a missionary to China, Robert Glover, who oversees a ministry called Care For Children. This incredible work has seen over 250,000 orphans get placed into loving homes and families. He told this one fantastic story of a girl who had a hole in her heart. After being placed in a family and given a stable and loving home environment, the young girl went to see the Doctor about the condition in which he discovered the hole had completely disappeared. There is no doubt that belonging to and being part of a family, a place to call home, is God's plan for our lives but sadly this is just not the case for all of us. The sin-nature that permeates the human condition causes all sorts of mess which then on-reaches into our lives, regardless of the decisions we have made. It's a fact of life but not a truth we have to live with because the good news is no matter how messy our home-lif or our family situation, God has adopted us as His very own. Rom 8 says “…we are His children”. That deep down desire in every person, to be part of a functioning family, to feel and know love, and to have some sense of value and identity can only be fully satisfied by the adoption that takes place when God joins His spirit with ours! Whatever your situation, good or bad, ask God into your life. It's the only way to be filled with love and acceptance in a way that satisfies the hole in our hearts, to give you and I a true sense of home. Bless you beautiful people! Have the most amazing day 🙂
