Hope is like air. You're gonna have trouble in this life if you don't breathe it in and hold onto it tightly. With a strong grip on it you'll be able to face the heartbreak and challenges that this sin-infected world presents to each of us…that none of us are immune too. The economy, our health, the relationships we have are not inpenatrable to break down and chaos. But there is hope…and it, unlike all else, doesn't disappoint. Hope is a person and His name is Jesus and what He does is introduce life where there is decay and atrophy. He works a situation, overcome and overgrown by sin, and turns it for good. The key is holding onto this hope. Gripping it and with a “Kung-fu” like grip. Making a determination to lay hands on and seize it…seize Him! It's when we do this that He works it for good. It reminds me of that passage in Matt 11 “heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force…” – there has to be a resolve in us that no matter how dark the season is, we will look for and head for the light. The hope. Jesus. Hebrews 6 says “Hope is anchor for our souls”. If you find yourself waning in hope it's time to turn to the one that provides the purest form of it. The One who is hope.
