Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. Ps 126:5 (NLT)
What amazes me about this verse is that the people it speaks of who are grieving and depressed… Who were going through dark and hard times, a season marked with tears… Those people still planted. They arose, tears in tow, and planted seeds for harvest. Seeds they believed that in times to come, after the grieving subsided, and the tears started to dry, would bring them great joy. And God promises here in this Psalm that very outcome – “Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.”
You may be in a dark place today… Maybe you're grieving; maybe depression is a real struggle, or you're just going through challenging and hard times – wherever you’re at, don’t let it take you out. Don’t let hard times convince you that there is no hope, there is no future. Because with Jesus, there is ALWAYS hope and the best is ALWAYS yet to come, here and in eternity. Make a decision to plant now, in your darkest hour, seeds of hope, seeds of change, seeds of determination that tomorrow, or next week, or next month or year, joy will return.
Look for it, wait for it… Eyes open, heart expectant. Even though sometimes you cannot feel it, see it or be sure of it, Hebrews 10:23 says “He who promised is faithful”.
You are not defeated; you have not failed… This is just a season. Choose today, no matter how challenging and difficult it is, to plant seeds of hope and faith, and watch those seeds grow into tall, healthy trees of joy. Praying for you guys…
